Vermont Secondary College is a huge, single campus co-educational institution that focuses on a unique curriculum, top academic success and a comprehensive co-curricular curriculum.

Vermont Secondary College is also proud of its track performance in academics as it prepares our students for an ever-changing array of educational and career paths. The college is consistently placed among the best of non-selective State Secondary Colleges based on our VCE and NAPLAN test results that are consistently higher than the State and ‘Like School standards of academic performance.

Vermont is a top-rated college for helping students attain amazing VCE scores and access higher education in large numbers. In 2020 19 of our year 12 VCE students had an average score over 95+ (top 5percent in the state) 36 students scored an average score of 90+ (top 10% of Vermont) and the 78 students who achieved a score of over the threshold of 80 (top 20% of the entire state). The most gratifying aspect is the achievement that 78.8 percent from our pupils (142 out of 180) were able to achieve a score that was above 60 (top 40 percent in the entire state).

In the 2020 VCE cohort of 179 viable Vermont students 175 were granted higher education and a large percentage of them gaining admission to university programs with high admission score.

In line with our goals for the future, in line with our strategic goals, the school has in the course of time introduced an internal structure for the house, Learning Enrichment & Extension Program (LEEP) for students in years 7-9 as well as a four-period day and a fully-supported student leadership model , with an organized dispersed management team (the School Improvement Team) to oversee the change and the development. The purpose-built facilities located on campus include the Library, Music Centre, Year 7 and Year 8 Centre, VCE hub and the Fallon Centre that is an open learning space that includes an auditorium that seats 250. In 2017, we inaugurated the $2.7 million Senior Science/Maths Complex and in 2019 , a $4.873 million C-block that includes 10 classrooms and two science labs/classrooms. There are also two classrooms and IT labs and five classrooms for general use that have moveable walls. There is also a language room as well as student toilets. We are planning to build the construction of a brand new double gymnasium. Construction work is scheduled beginning in 2022.

The College has a tradition of recognizing, encouraging and recognizing outstanding performances of students academically as well as in areas of leadership and co-curricular involvement. The wide variety of co-curricular programs, such as our well-known instrumental music performing arts, choral and choral program, assists in the development of students to become competent, productive and active citizens. Our College can also be described as a prestigious sports school, with a large number of students playing at the local district or state level, as well as at a national as well as at an international level.Our Graduation from Year 6 through 7 Transition Program helps students who are new to the College are welcomed, relaxed and safe in the specially designed the Year 7 Learning Center. The friendly House structure helps ensure the smooth and safe transition to secondary school.
