What exactly is a veterinary specialist?

• The degree was awarded after the five-year bachelor of Veterinary Science degree
• Four years of practice as an veterinary surgeon in general practice
• Have completed a three- to four-year residency programme in their area of particularization
• Successfully passed the examinations for an honorary membership with members of the Australian as well as the New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (ANZCVS)
• The veterinarians have to be certified as specialists by the veterinary board within the area where they are practicing.
